In GIMP, is there a way to overlay more than one animated gif?

Is there a way to open up one animated gif in GIMP, and import another animated gif on top of it, so they play simultaneously but overlapping? I've tried manually copying and pasting each frame together, but that's extremely tedious when you have over 20 frames.
